Meet The Team
Held senior executive and Board positions within retail and manufacturing, whilst his earlier experience was in Government agencies and care services. Extensive commercial experience working in conjunction with FMCG retailers, EU markets, and operationally dealing with US and Far East imports and exports. IInvolved in general management roles and has been responsible for many other disciplines such as IT, HR and Manufacturing & Logistics.
Experience in Private Practice before moving into a commercial environment. Initially in the financial services sector and later within the manufacturing sectors servicing FMCG Retailers. Holding Senior Executive Roles at both subsidiary and Group company levels. Latterly Julian has spent time raising venture/debt finance, enabling company acquisitions through Management Buy-outs.

Experience in both industry and practice. During the late 90s led a management buy-out of a coal processing and distribution business which he then ran successfully for six years. Subsequently spent six years at Deloitte as head of the Entrepreneurial Business practice based in the Leeds office, leading audit, tax and corporate finance services including due diligence, debt raising, management buy-out / in, grooming businesses for full or partial exit and disposal mandates including trade sale and private equity.
Kevin has expertise in finance and general management areas. He has held senior roles
including board positions in a number of companies in the commercial, industrial and
manufacturing sectors, and has undertaken numerous hands-on and strategic projects in
small and medium sized companies.

Cash Control and Forecasting
Do you have complete confidence in your cash control procedures and cash flow forecasting?

FDO will review the effectiveness of your procedures, and establish and implement, where necessary, pro-active controls to ensure your cash position is optimised at all times.
Business Plans and Securing Your Future
The impact on businesses in an age of seemingly perpetual change is significant. To progress, and in many cases, simply survive, is a continuing task for a modern day business manager. Certainly a business never 'stands still'.
The Partners in FDO have had extensive experience in facing these challenges and difficulties. In some instances a detailed business appraisal has been undertaken, recommendations made and a business plan drawn up. In others, a restructuring and/or reorganisation programme has been required, to protect the ongoing activity and build confidence for the future. Where required, we can also play an integral part in the implementation and turnaround. Our objective is to give you a greater understanding of the mechanics of your business, and see your business effect change, succeed and grow.
Do you have a robust costing system in place that accurately reflects your cost of product or service? Is your stock value correct and is it a true relection of reliasable value maintained in your accounts? Do you have an effectient and well controlled stock managment system that accuratley reflect ALL movements through the business on a timely basi? What is your obsolesence policy?
Where appropriate we can introduce relevant costing systems and procedures that allow you to value, maintain and report on your stocks. Accurate costings are vital when pricing your prodcts and hence determining the margins your business should be making. We have the experience to work with your operations team to ensure robust procedures are in place to track all movements, report and assess on efficiencies and waste.

Healthchecks & Strategic Reviews
Whatever stage in the development cycle your business has reached, it is of great value to seek a business review of your operation. We suggest that this is done at least twice a year, enabling strategies and objectives to be reviewed and amended where necessary.
Should this review be undertaken when your business is growing and becoming more profitable? Yes.
Because simply the review should not only recognise past performance, but also assess the prospects for the business in the future. Past performance is never a guarantee of future success. Are you unsure of the business performance, or getting the most out of the business, is your business plan out of date or moving in the wrong direction, what are your competitors doing and how has the market changed?
A Strategic Business Review should :-
•Determine the status of the business at the present time in ALL of it key areas and address immediate problems or areas of concern.
•Understand the goals & objectives of the business owner(s).
•Develop strategies on how the business can move forward from its current position to achieve its goals.
•Develop an action plan for the implementation of the agreed strategies.
•Identify areas for improvement that may immediately reduce costs, increase sales, improve efficiencies, ensure legslative compliance or other corrective action.
All key functional areas should be reviewed together with management process, people and resources. Improvement action can lead to change and dramatically influence staff morale and have a negative impact on the business. As a consequence the review should include commentary on the business approach and implementation of quality management systems and best practices. Communication to the business is vital as the employees within the business need to understand the future vision and how it will get there. More importantly they are part of the journey and will help the business achieve its goals and objectives.
Non Executive Support

The FDs office is proud to welcome Simon Trobridge as a new partner to the business. Simon joins us from Deloitte, one of the largest audit practices in the UK, where he was Director of Entrepreneurial Business.
Simon has significant experience in both industry and practice. During the late 90s he led a management buy-out of a coal processing and distribution business which he then ran successfully for six years before realising his investment through the sale of the business.
More recently, Simon has spent six years at Deloitte as head of the Entrepreneurial Business practice based in the Leeds office. His responsibility was to lead audit, tax and corporate finance services including due diligence, debt raising, management buy-out / in, grooming businesses for full or partial exit and disposal mandates including trade sale and private equity.
Simon is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant in England and Wales.
